Skills Bootcamp In Retrofit

Skills Bootcamps form part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and help everyone gain skills for life. They are fully-funded, flexible courses, which give people the opportunity to build sector-specific skills, and a fast-track interview with a local employer. The training is possible thanks to funding secured by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), and aims to offer flexible courses for adults over the age of 19 who need to retrain and/or upskill to further their careers. Skills Bootcamps are intense, flexible, courses from 60 hours up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to a guaranteed interview with a local employer. WHAT COURSES ARE AVAILABLE? Employed: 
  • Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision
  • Level 2 & Level 3 Insulation or Fenestration
  • Level 3 Energy Efficiency
Unemployed: 
  • Level 1 Construction Site Safety
  • Retrofit Training

How do skills bootcamps work?

Skills Bootcamps in Greater Manchester will not only support employed and unemployed people in the city-region to access career opportunities but will also help businesses to close skill gaps they’re struggling to fill.

They offer a minimum 60 of learning hours to people over a maximum of 16 weeks, resulting in a guaranteed interview with a local employer.

The programme will place a high focus on supporting underrepresented groups including:

  • low paid and unemployed/not in work
  • veterans
  • ex-offenders
  • women
  • ethnic minorities
  • over 50s
  • those returning work after a break/maternity leave
  • people living with a health condition/disability
 
 

At the end of the course if you are interested in becoming self employed you will get a free voucher to access Checkatrade member benefits and support for 6 months

There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this qualification, however, experience in the construction industry would be a benefit.

  • Employed either full-time or part-time
  • Unemployed
  • Self-employed
  • A serving prisoner due to be released within 6 months of completion of a Skills Bootcamp and those on temporary release
  • Living in Greater Manchester
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • An individual can only participate in one Skills Bootcamp per funding year

Employed Learners:

Unemployed Learners:
