Course Overview

If you’re a qualified plumbing and/or heating engineer wanting to upskill, this course combines theory and practice in covering topics such as service and maintenance, solar collectors, preparing solar water heating systems and much more.

The Solar Hot Water Thermal Systems is now fully mapped against the National Occupational Standards, therefore this course is a requirement of the minimum technical competency (MTC) document for solar installers.

The course is recognised by all bodies offering routes to Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) as evidence of suitable training.

Lessons:

Candidates should have a minimum NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or Conventional Heating Engineering, Domestic Vented and Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems, Water Regulations and Part L Energy Efficiency certificates, or demonstrable evidence of at least 3 years relevant work experience.

Assessments consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.
