Who Is This For
The Level 2 NVQ in Passive Fire Protection is aimed at individuals working in the construction or fire safety industry who are responsible for installing and maintaining fire protection systems. Mandatory Units
Learners must complete the four mandatory units
- Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
- Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
- Erecting and dismantling access/working platforms in the workplace
Optional Units
Learners must complete two units from the optional unit group
- Applying non-reactive spray coatings in the workplace
- Applying thin film reactive coatings in the workplace
- Erecting fire resisting ceiling systems in the workplace
- Erecting fire resisting walls and wall linings in the workplace
- Installing dry cladding to protect structural steel in the workplace
- Installing fire resisting ductwork systems in the workplace
- Installing Fire Resisting Timber Door Assemblies and Doorsets in the Workplace
- Installing fire stopping and penetration seals in the workplace
- Installing flexible (non-mechanical) cavity barriers in the workplace

All Level 2 NVQs from the UK Skills Academy lead to a Blue CSCS card which is the certification that allows you to show your employer that you are qualified and have the knowledge and expertise to conduct yourself on-site in a safe and responsible manner. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on-site.
Eligibility
- 19+ Years Old
- Live or Work in England (Business address can be out of England as long as the work is in England – we will need evidence)
- 3 months working in the trade for Level 2 and 6 months for Level 3
- You must be working in the trade you are applying for now – you must be able to demonstrate via assessment.
Duration
Our NVQs are flexible to work around you and the trade you are currently working in. You will be registered for 8-10 weeks and your assessor will collect a range of evidence from your workplace, work with you on assessments and will require your knowledge workbook to be completed in the first 4 weeks.

You could be eligible to receive up to £600 back upon completion if you are registered with CITB.
