Who Is This For

The Level 2 NVQ in Bricklaying is aimed at individuals working in or aspiring to join the construction industry as professional bricklayers. It is ideal for those who want to develop their practical skills and demonstrate their competence in tasks such as building walls, installing foundations, and working with bricks and blocks. This qualification is suitable for apprentices, trainees, or experienced workers looking to formalise their expertise and achieve a nationally recognised certification to enhance their career prospects in the bricklaying trade.

Mandatory Units

Learners must complete the five mandatory units

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Erecting masonry structures in the workplace
  • Setting out to form masonry structures in the workplace

Optional Units

Learners can choose to take additional units but they do not form part of the core qualification

  • Erecting masonry cladding in the workplace
  • Erecting thin joint masonry structures in the workplace
  • Repairing and maintaining masonry structures in the workplace
  • Placing and compacting concrete in the workplace
  • Installing drainage in the workplace
  • Installing and forming specialist masonry elements in the workplace

How You Will Learn

All Level 2 NVQs from the UK Skills Academy lead to a Blue CSCS card which is the certification that allows you to show your employer that you are qualified and have the knowledge and expertise to conduct yourself on-site in a safe and responsible manner. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on-site.

Eligibility

Duration

Our NVQs are flexible to work around you and the trade you are currently working in. You will be registered for 8-10 weeks and your assessor will collect a range of evidence from your workplace, work with you on assessments and will require your knowledge workbook to be completed in the first 4 weeks.

You could be eligible to receive up to £600 back upon completion if you are registered with CITB.
